Two new trees

February 18, 2017

On 18 February, the Friends planted two trees outside our regular programme !
One was a multi-stemmed hazel to the west of Eagle Pond, to replace one which had died of a fungus, the other was a flowering cherry to complement the other cherry trees planted under last year’s programme with Trees for Cities outside the Windmill Pub. This replaced a long-dead cherry  tree.[there are pictures of both plantings on the website].  Both trees are doing well. LambethLandscapes dug the holes, but the 2 trees were entirely financed  from FCC funds [£263]. The Friends are in touch with Lambeth about replacing other dead or dying trees, so that it Clapham Common can continue to be a beautiful place for all !
